Eurilait return for additional flowrapper
Existing customer, Eurilait, the leading cheese distributor has recently installed another new ULMA Artic horizontal flowrapper after an extensive evaluation.
Eurilait is the UK subsidiary of two French dairy co-operatives, Laita and Eurial and are the UK’s leading distributor of quality continental and speciality cheese and dairy products. The company is based in Somerset, where it operates a 22,000 sq.ft cutting, packing and distribution facility supplying retail, wholesale and industrial markets throughout the UK and Ireland.
The company has bought ULMA machines in the past, but when it came to the latest project, there was a very precise brief that needed to be addressed. Because of the extensive range of cheeses involved it was clear that versatility would be a key pre-requisite.
Not only did it have to be easy to use with quick and easy changeover between packs, but there was a requirement to run standard shrink film and barrier MAP shrink film on the same machine.
After careful consideration, including the help of independent packaging consultants, Eurilait chose ULMA once again, installing the Artic flow wrapper.
This horizontal flowrapping machine is designed specifically to pack fresh food products with modified atmosphere (MAP) for extended shelf life. It features a long dwell sealing head with "oval" motion profile in the jaw, which produces cheese packs with perfectly hermetic seals at high production speeds.
Built with a cantilever stainless steel frame, the machine is easy to clean and to maintain hygiene standards and offers quick changeover times with touch screen operated product memory settings. "No product - No Bag" and "Misplaced product detection" were also key considerations.
Above all Eurilait were impressed not only with the capabilities of the rmachine but the experience that ULMA bring to the cheese sector and welcomed the advice provided and after sales support that would help them develop their packaging capabilities in the future.
